12 Days of Drabbles

So as Bon Voyage begins to set Sale! I set sail on a 12 day cruise (woop). Last year on my cruise I wrote Bon Voyage that’s where it all began on deck 7 which my little Doctor Who notebook and postcards which I used to send the story on.

Now as I’m going onto another cruise this year I wanted to write something – I’m currently banned from starting new stories, something about there already being about 10 on the go! so I decided instead to do 12 Days of Drabbles!

Copy of Copy of 12
So in this twelve days of drabbles is;

Nathan and Cory from Choreography
Max and Billy from Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies
Elyot and Kyrain from 12A
Calvin and Damian from Vlogger
Dominic and Robin from Basorexia: Metanoia
Ollie and Josh from On Tour
Oliver and Harry from The Wedding Plan
Jake and Harvey from The Asexual Equation
Jonathan and George from Jonathan
Pete and Ryan from Paperhouse/Gay Brigade
Mickey and Casey from Casey
And of course Darren and Luke from Bon Voyage (because how could I not)

So far my plan is to publish this on the 12th December and hopefully by then every book involved in the drabbles will have been published!

Within the Drabbles there’ll be 3 Sex Scenes, 4 first times, 1 last time, 1 coming out, 1 lesson in sign language, 1 honeymoon and 1 engagement
And I think it’s safe to say I’m really, really excited to get started on it!

So Bon Voyage! I shall return after my 12 day break!

Covers!

So whenever I’m in a dilemma and I can’t choose between two covers I always place it on my RJ Facebook and ask for the general preference. I mean I always do, I’d like a nice cover that people have seen and thought I like that!

I always try to put a general cover – maybe one that looks like other YA novels or something along the lines of what other people have done and then I put a second which is usually different and experimental and sometimes that wins, its an interesting day if that one wins but usually it’s the one that looks like other books and it doesn’t have intrigue me.
perfer.pngThis was the most recent of the decisions and last night the Globe won, the Globe which looks an awful lot like David Levithan’s covers but it won so I had to use it. But I just found this as a whole intriguing.

7 Days Until we Set Sail with Bon Voyage!

NEW COVER

Darren made a new year resolution at midnight, he will talk to someone, anyone on the cruise this year and the American boy who sat next to him on his first night really helped that along what Darren didn’t expect was that he’d soon develop a humongous crush on that American boy, but with only two weeks on board can he and Luke really develop a relationship and can they deal with living 5,140 miles away from each other when their cruise is over.

Basorexia Interview!

So I’ve been hearing you all as you ask What is Basorexia when I’ve posted little things about it, well here it is, the day you find out!

The Basorexia Project I began in January, although the idea was formed on the 3rd December whilst Christmas shopping and sat in a Burger King! The idea was formed because I (R.J Seeley) wanted to write a book with a group of people it seemed fun, I found the word Basorexia

Basorexia and I don’t think my brain has ever worked quicker. I selected 4 co-writers, who when asked were all intrigued and excited to take part.. Unfortunately due to circumstances one of the four had to pull out the project but we continued anyway battling with any problems or troubles we faced.

Finally as we’ve reached the end hurdles of this project I’ve been left with 3 amazing co-writers. These three writers are K. Tealin, J.D. Barkley and Ace Warren.

Here, below is a 5 question interview with all four of us, to explain the Basorexia Project a little more.

What is your story about?
R.J.
– Dominic has an opportunity to escape the life he resents, but can he take it? Held back by a surprise encounter with a new love interest and having trouble facing his true feelings what will he do?
K. – Ellie is a product of her environment conditioned by her mother’s hyper obsession with feminine beauty, Ellie doesn’t know where she fits in, and is desperate to find out, she finds her feet in a library where she also finds an older guy who makes her feel things she never felt before.
J.D. – Isabelle sees the world through rose tint, in her world everything is perfect to her until a night out that goes wrong which sets off the harsh alarm clock that is life and soon enough she finds out just actually what matters.
Ace – It’s finally come the day Charlotte can become who he truly wants to be. But it can’t be as easy as that, he first needs to tell someone and that scares him, but he knows it’s what he needs to do.

Why did you decide to take part in the Basorexia project?
R.J. –
I had no choice! I made the project so I had to take part. I also wanted to work with a group of people and see what we came up.
K. – R.J. asked me, it sounded interesting
J.D.- In the last year or so I’ve started a few writing projects but never really loved an idea enough to continue and I definitely feel passionate enough about this one to finish.
Ace – Fun! Also because I find myself most productive when working with others and wanted to complete a story.

What does Basorexia mean to you?
R.J. –
Basorexia means a great group of people, it means Dominic who started as a concept and finished as a person.
K. – A project of four very different people and how they cope with their lives. It’s a project everyone can relate to.
J.D. – Getting useful opinions to improve writing and having the privilege of reading the work of talented people that I have immensely enjoyed working alongside.
Ace – Kiss – Lovely times or rather the changing nature of desire.

Will you continue to write?
R.J. –
Of course I have 6 books to publish before 2015!
K. – Yes
J.D. – Yes, after this I will definitely finish future projects
Ace – Hopefully this will increase my productivity. I have more ideas in the works.

Are you excited for the release of the Basorexia Project?
R.J. –
Ecstatic! Fearful of the editing but as long as there’s pizza we’ll be fine!
K. – Yes
J.D. – I really am, to share all of these oh so different stories and see what people interpret from them.
Ace – Yes!!!

The Basorexia project will be published in the Autumn of 2014 and the four individual stories will be all published in the same book. Each story is 90 – 100 pages long and all have their little charms!

Unintended Series

So yesterday I posted a blog about writing in a Family Tree, well today I realised I’ve been also writing in Timelines. Slide2

This is Ryan Mitchell’s timeline (the guy from the Family Tree yesterday) Now okay so there is a series in here, the Gay Brigade series but these books also cover a wide scope of his life. His timeline actually begins at his birth with Paperhouse which is the story of his father (which is essentially a prequel to every book with Ryan in – but also a standalone), Ryan then reappears in Gay Brigade aged 15/16 and in his last year of secondary school where him and his two best friends Darren Jones (who also is mentioned  in Paperhouse) and Callum Jones (also Paperhouse) are getting prepared for the future. Ryan is then in Superstar, based in 2012, where he meets and begins dating his future husband Daniel Bussel, following that is Gay Brigade: Callum and Noah where Ryan and Daniel adopt their son McKenzie Callum Mitchell-Bussel, Gay Brigade: Ryan and Daniel then documents a year of their life as a family, followed by Gay Brigade: Darren and Luke where Ryan plays his defining role in his career, Mickey in Blood Brothers.

Slide1

It was because of this character Jake Logan that I decided to do these timelines. I realised he’d been appearing in others books before his own. He appears from ages 4 – 13 as just Noah’s brother, but although he is a minor character in Sex Education and Released he’s still important. For example in Sex Education four year old Jake Logan won’t speak a word but only will to Noah, he whispers everything to his twin brother Adam, it is then later discovered in Gay Brigade: Callum and Noah that Jake only really speaks to Noah and is otherwise quiet also in Gay Brigade: Callum and Noah, Jake comes to conclusion that he is asexual and the fact that he has mild anxiety is also revealed in that book. Later in The Asexual Equation he’s undergoing an experiment to define asexuality for his friend who is a biologist whilst also suffering from quite severe anxiety.

Slide3

Lastly is Mr William Elliot who I had to do the timeline of because he just constantly reappears in books. Our first encounter (going by book years not publishing years) is in 1999 in Adventures in Twinville V.1-V.5 on his first day of University where he is enrolled onto a course to become a Secondary School teacher, we then re-encounter him in 2002 in Jonathan on the year of his graduation. He reappears in AiT V.6-V.10 where he marries his boyfriend (who he met in University). William then just appears as a teacher throughout, appearing in Choreography, Gay Brigade, Casey and The Asexual Equation varying from just being a teacher to being the LGBT coordinator, which he is appointed in Teaching Techniques after teaching a Gay Sex Ed class.

Family Tree writing.

Ryan Tree

So I just figured because I made this family tree a few months ago when I was writing Gay Brigade: Ryan and Daniel and I figured that I actually write this family a lot. Catherine Mitchell and Michael Taylor- Thomas are being wrote in Paperhouse, which is based the year Catherine is pregnant with Ryan, then Gay Brigade is Ryan at 15/16 with his two friends Callum and Darren. Superstar is Ryan Mitchell finding his future husband Daniel Bussel and Gay Brigade: Ryan and Daniel is them with their 3 year old son McKenzie Callum Mitchell-Bussel. Who knows maybe next I’ll write McKenzie Callum and his family!
