This review contains spoilers!

The Thing I Didn’t Know I Didn’t Know is the latest (5th) book in the Russel Middlebrook series by Brent Hartinger and Boy! Has Russel grew up, he is no longer the nervous little teenager that he once was, now he’s a man (of sorts).

From the very beginning of this book you can tell this isn’t like the rest, for a starter Russel is going for a hookup with a man called Boston, who’s he’s only ever met via text! You know instantly that Russel is 23 now, a completely new ballgame.

Russell’s narrative and character is so easy to like so ever when he’s being a bit selfish (chapter fifteen) or a bit deceiving (chapter twelve) you’re still hooked on his journey and on how it’ll end up! Russel is also a normal twenty-something, so you can sympathise with him, you know where he is coming from, you know what’s it like to be working two jobs that you equally dislike, you know what it’s like to have to try and pay rent (although wouldn’t complain about the houseboat), you know what it’s like to have a struggling love life.

This book was a joy to read, I just couldn’t put it down.

Definite Must Read!

***** Five Stars!
