One Year On…

So, my one year publishing holiday is coming very quickly to an end. I have just sent my first 2016 book to Kindle Scout, to be considered for a publishing contract, I will be informed in a few days of its campaign date, but, I’m more amazed that it has already been an year.

Last year, I published On Tour and declared that my last for the next 365 days. I’m more impressed with the fact that I’ve kept to it. I started the year off with an intention, to reedit all my books (work in progress!), to rewrite Gay Brigade and Casey (bigger work in progress!), and to stop taking low starred reviews so harshly (COMPLETED!). Instead, I have decided on, and finished That Awkward Age, which will be released in November, I have started a 4-part drag series ‘The Rose Quartet’, which includes Rose, Jasmine, Cherry Blossom and Daisy and I came up with a completely new idea, the one that will be published this month Rainbow Connection.

More information will follow for each of these books.

The big GAY announcement

Picture1

So, the big Gay Brigade Announcement.

By the end of 2016 the entire of the Gay Brigade series will be unpublished, BUT don’t fret, because it is also being rewrote.

From the very beginning, the Gay Brigade is being redone, new story-lines (I know, story-lines!), and cleaner covers, there also is going to be a fifth book. Gay Brigade: McKenzie and Dominic, the story of the Gay Brigade’s two straight children!

I’m excited about the prospect of the new Gay Brigade, and so far the writing is going brilliantly (if I say so myself).

So, keep an eye out for more Gay Brigade announcements and release dates!!

Pancake Day

A bit of Prince Matthew and boyfriend Eddie, to celebrate Pancake Day.

“You’ve never made pancakes.” Eddie said, so I shrugged.
“I’ve had them, but like not made.” I said, frowning slightly then looking at Eddie as he shook his head amused, and held the collar of my coat as if saying take it off, then he put a finger up to me so I nodded.
“MUM?” he queried, getting no reply so he looked at me. “Want to make pancakes?”
“Yes.” I replied, making him laugh and take my coat, hanging it on the end of the banister then taking my hand and leading me through to the kitchen.
“From scratch?” he queried, so I frowned. “Either, we both get covered in flour or not.” he replied, making me grin then look down myself, mostly evaluating if I could get covered in flour. “It comes off very easily.” he added, so I nodded.
“From scratch.” I said, and he laughed.
“Why did I know you’d say that?” he said, then went into one of his cupboards getting a bowl out and a sieve, then went into the fridge getting eggs and some butter,
“So what do I do?” I asked, and he gave me the sieve.
“Hold that.” he said, making me pout then laugh as he began putting flour through it which was just coming back as a huge dust cloud, once he’d deemed there to be enough flour he looked at me then began laughing. “You suit white.” he said, making me frown and look down I was literally covered in flour so I began laughing.
“Richard would have a fit.” I said, and saw a childish grin from Eddie.
“Should we make him angrier?” he asked, making me frown.
“How?” I asked, then felt as flour filled my hair making me squeal at him, and get a handful and throw it at him making him laugh, a really happy laugh and do the same back to me and this continued until he grabbed me around the waist pulling me into him and kissing me making me grin and kiss him back whilst also putting my handful of flour down the back of his top.
“You little shit.” he said against my lips, making me smile. “I’m afraid to put the eggs in.” he said making me smile.
“How many?” I asked, and he put two fingers up so I nodded and got two, giving him one and us both civilly cracking the eggs on the side of the bowl, and putting them in and the same with the milk and water, we even stirred it civilly we just couldn’t handle flour, they were nice, they were very nice not like the ones we had in the palace they were crispy and still had some of the oil on them.
“Are you fulfilled?” he asked, so I nodded as I took my last spoonful.
“They were very, very nice.” I said grinning at him, as he smiled back at me.
“I think we’re going to need a shower.” he said so I nodded.

How to Identify R.J. Wave 2

So, as most people know, I’m on a rebrand, rewrite, reinvent hiatus year. Apart of this month has been focused on ensuring Wave 2 is identifiable, and now, I think it is.

You will be able to identify R.J. Wave 2 books by their spines (well, in the paperback anyway.)

Picture2

On each and every spine, there will be the sexuality flag (of the MC at least), and my initials.

On digital versions, it will be made known that the book is the rebrand, rewrote and reinvented version, and will also be copyrighted 2016 (or beyond.)

Keep an eye out for the first of Wave 2!

Open the Book Design

Well, I told you all I had a big exciting announcement for early January, and well, it’s finally ready, so here it is.

Picture1

Towards the end of 2015,  I was beginning to feel a little lost, there was nothing really there for me, my new job wasn’t the most interesting thing in the world, and as everyone knows, I am taking a planned hiatus from my books, so I began to think about things I love doing, and I’ve always wanted to start my own business, so I did.

Open the Book Design is a cover design company for indie authors, Open the book is affordable, personal and effective. There is all kind of options for indie authors, and I, as an indie author myself of course know the importance of a great cover.

2015…

Well, I guess it’s time for the reflective post on the last year.

2015 was definitely one of the most conflicting years for my writing, there were definite high moments, but some very definite low moments, and I think my blog was with me throughout the majority of them.

But first, the stats;

  • I released my first book of 2015 on Valentine’s Day, Prince’s Tale.
  • Following that I released 7 books between March and October.
  • My Black Friday sale placed 6 of my books in the top 25 list on Amazon.
  • My Black Friday sale had a record number of 700+ downloads.
  • My most popular book in 2015 was All is Equal, since it’s release in August there has been 65 paid sales.

Now, for the year;

The year started with Prince’s Tale going into pre-order, since then there has been many deadlines set, and many met, a few delayed. My most exciting release of the year was Basorexia, my story I wrote with 3 co-writers Finlay Harper (who is releasing his first novel in 2016), J.D. Barkley and K. Tealin, as the story was in production for 2 years it was definitely the most anticipated release, and as it began to happen definitely the most exciting, especially being able to publish it with 3 authors who had never published a book before.

But, with highs, unfortunately comes lows, and with a more public view, comes negativity, when I look at my sale numbers I realise the negativity is coming from about 5% of my readers, but, as always negative comments stay with you more than compliments. Very soon the negativity began to get to me, and unfortunately the only thing I could think to do was declare a publishing break. The break was enforced after the release of my latest book, On Tour, and so far the break is helping me focus on past books and future plans without the idea of any deadlines.

I love to write, and I especially love to share my writing, I want people to fall in love with my boys like I do, and I want people to be apart of their worlds. Their stories. Unfortunately right now, I’m feeling a bit hesitant to share anything new just yet, I’ve always been aware there is problems in my writing, but what indie author doesn’t have problems in their writing. I am looking to hopefully having some of those problems ironed out, and am actually looking forward to the things I have planned for early 2016.

So, as you can tell 2015 was definitely a mixed bag for me, but I come out of it with the knowledge of what I need to do to improve, and won a slightly rose tinted optimism.

A few books may also disappear along the way, but don’t worry, you will be warned before with a GRAB IT BEFORE IT GOES sale!

I am am quite excited about the prospecting year, I’m looking forward to revisiting old works and making them better.

I may also share a few collaboration projects that are happening throughout the year also.

Well, Summer is nearly over.

Well, actually we could actually say we’re well into September, and autumn but, I believe today might be the last ‘sit outside in a t-shirt‘ day for a while.

But, summer is alas nearly over, I have turned 20, which officially means that we’ve passed the middle of the summer, and everyone’s back at school and work.

It was an enjoyable summer, but, I also spent a lot of time thinking this summer. I got myself an editor, which is a big yaay! and I finally released Basorexia, the book that has been in waiting for two years.

I have, however now made my decision, when On Tour is released on the 6th October, that will be the last RJ book in 2015. It will also, probably be the last book until at least 2017. I am taking a break, I will be gone. Sure, I will still blog, I’ll still be on social media, I’ll keep everyone updated, but there will be no publications until 2017, which sounds a lifetime away, but really as we’re already in September 2015, we’ll be there before we know it.

All my previous books will go through an edit, and a rebrand.

More will be revealed in due course.
